Recipe: Golden Salsa
We have been blessed two years in a row with a very abundant garden. With all the veggies we get from it, it’s hard to use them all, even when we give some away to friends.

(photo credit: Jesse Egan) It is once again canning season, and I’m so happy to see it come around again! This year, our plans include canning strawberries, peaches, cherries, and apples, with the possibility of adding blueberries into the mix. Last summer we got a crate of peaches from Tree-Ripe and made peach jam, among […]
It’s 19 days until my wedding, and I’m still not feeling quite my best. I’ve been doing boot camp about 3 days per week, I eat very healthy and drink very little (well, not including my bachelorette party), but I still feel like I need more shoves in the right direction to get me to […]
Hello, and welcome back to Dairy-Free State after a long hiatus! My first year of graduate school is under my belt (summer projects not included) and I’m happy to be back with more recipes and more projects. My hope is never to go this long again without posting, and I’m overflowing with ideas for new […]
This summer, we were lucky enough to pick up some delicious deliveries from Tree-Ripe. We bought peaches at the beginning of the summer (and made awesome recipes like Peach Pancakes and Sangria) and blueberries near the end of the summer. For the past couple months, we’ve been getting deliveries from Brewers Organics, an amazing local service in Milwaukee that delivers fresh organic produce and other goods to your door as frequently as once per week. I’ll probably write a whole post about them later, but for now, I wanted to talk about this week. We […]
Sometimes, small tweaks can revive an old recipe. In this case, I turned a recipe I made last summer into a slightly different recipe featuring a couple different baking ingredients. With this new year, I give you a facelift of a previous recipe: vegan cranberry pecan chocolate chip muffins.
The Polar Vortex is definitely moving back in. Well, technically, I guess it never left. That weird fog in the summer was a result of our lingering frosty friend.
Long time, no post! It’s been a while since my last entry, but with a performance ending and the semester winding down, my time has opened up a bit. I can see the end of my first semester back at school, and Thanksgiving break is right around the corner. I’ve learned so much but I’ve […]
