However, now that I have the basics down, I’m inspired to try different kinds of nuts and different ingredients to make exciting new flavors, and you can’t get to that point without getting the hang of the basics.
All I used in this peanut butter were roasted unsalted peanuts (shelled and peeled already and in the bulk bin) and peanut oil. My peanuts were not oily enough to form into smooth peanut butter on their own, so the oil was needed, but use it only if you need it.
First, pour the peanuts into a food processor. Run the processor for about 2 minutes or until the peanuts have become very fine.
Then drizzle in a little bit of oil. The amount you use depends on the amount of peanuts you have and how smooth you want the peanut butter. I probably used about a tablespoon to a couple cups of peanuts, but use a little, mix with the food processor, and use more if you don’t think it’s coming together well enough.
There you have it. All you need to know to make peanut butter. Check in later when I try to make exciting new varieties from this basic recipe.
