I really enjoyed getting a chance to talk with Jalisa. She helped me open up the podcast even wider than I first imagined when she told me she decided to go plant-based for spiritual reasons. I was intrigued by this idea, so I was excited to get a chance to talk to her and learn more about it.
Jalisa’s path to vegetarianism and a plant-based diet happened the way it has for a lot of people – she watched a few eye-opening documentaries, dabbled a bit, and then found the message that truly connected with her. Once she heard someone on a documentary talk about how they ate vegetarian to connect with their faith, she found something that resonated.
We covered a lot of topics on the podcast, including some of Jalisa’s favorite meals, her experiences with friends and family eating in a different way, the questions she’s sick of answering (spoiler alert, they include questions about protein), and the importance of representation when it comes to special diets.
