This past weekend, I made some homemade pizza using Teese mozzarella cheese.
Teese cheese is hands down one of my favorite brands of vegan cheese, and that’s because it actually melts. What I like to do with Teese is shred it, which seems to help it melt better. There’s a restaurant in town that tends to put it in chunks on the pizza, which works alright, but I don’t think it’s as effective as shredding.
They suggest you cook the pizza at 450-500 degrees, so if you’re using a pre-made crust, make sure to adjust accordingly.
Although Teese mozzarella doesn’t taste like much, it also doesn’t have an offensive fake-cheese taste, and it’s great for that ooey-gooey texture you miss when going without cheese. And, BONUS, it’s gluten-free!
What’s your favorite dairy-free “mozzarella”? Are there any cheeses you want me to try?
