I love the Girl Scouts, and I love their cookies, but they’re not exactly diet-friendly (why did they decide to sell them after resolutions and before Lent?)
Luckily, I had also just ordered some foods from Spencer’s Market, an all-vegan shopping site that I highly recommend. Included in my shipment were some sweet cinnamon chickpea snacks from a company called The Good Bean.
I think when I bit into them I was expecting something like a peanut, which is of course not what you’ll get because these are chickpeas. I wasn’t sure about them at first, but after five or six I got used to them and then couldn’t stop eating them.
They’ve got a very good crunch to them and are also very creamy. There’s just a little bit of sweetness to them (via brown rice syrup) and there’s spices and coarse salt to balance them out. It is a bit of an acquired taste but once you get used to them, you’ll be hooked.
Bonuses: These are gluten-free, high-fiber, non-GMO, vegan, and a whole food snack.
They suggest on the bag to put these on ice cream, but I wouldn’t know. They never made it past my desk.
