I have used celebration loaves for Vegan Wellingtons and I’ve eaten their grain meats used by some restaurants in the area, but it was fairly recently that I tried their frankfurters for the first time.
Now that it’s grilling season, make sure you always have these frankfurters in your fridge. The texture is great – very solid and substantial, not that odd rubbery texture that you get with some substitution meat sausages and franks. They don’t taste exactly like hot dogs but they will fill you up and are close enough that you wouldn’t miss anything.
I always test products out like this on my boyfriend who eats red meat and pork to see if they live up to his standards, and he loves these. He says about Field Roast, “They’re a meat substitution company that doesn’t try to taste like meat” which I think sums up why I like them so much. They don’t try to replicate anything in the meat world exactly – they just focus on making their flavor the best it can be.
We regularly make meals out of these franks with sprouted buns. Add some sweet potato fries and green beans and you have a complete and very satisfying meal.
