Not naming names, but some taste downright awful. The last thing you want in a dairy-free ice cream is that fake dairy taste, reminding you that you don’t get to have the real stuff.
Dairy-free ice creams consist of many different substitutes: Rice, soy, almond, hemp. However, the best substitute, in my opinion, is coconut, and of all the coconut milk ice creams I’ve tasted, Coconut Bliss makes some of the best.
This is the kind of ice cream I’d feed to anyone who wasn’t sure about dairy substitutes or someone who didn’t think they’d like anything that was vegan or dairy-free. Coconut Bliss ice creams are rich and creamy and downright decadent.
I’ve tried a few flavors, but my favorite so far is Chocolate Peanut Butter. Anything with a swirl in it for me is dangerous, because I’ll follow it right down to the bottom, but trust me, this is a great indulgence. I never feel left out when my boyfriend is eating ice cream if I have a pint of this in my freezer.
Around my neighborhood, you can buy Coconut Bliss at a lot of places, including Whole Foods, so I’m guessing availability is pretty widespread. If somewhere near you carries the Ginger Cookie Caramel flavor, color me jealous, because I haven’t been able to find it yet.
What’s your favorite dairy-free ice cream?
