Getting diagnosed with SIBO and trying a few different diets isn’t easy. Even going low-FODMAP, the least stringent diet to follow, can get tricky. Try finding onion- and garlic-free alternatives to products you used to take for granted. Ketchup, salad dressings, and marinades are near impossible to track down. Luckily, one brand has come to the rescue – Fody Foods (pronounced like “foe-dy”).
The Monash FODMAP Diet App (more on that in a future post) and Fody Foods have been two of the biggest game changers for me on my low-FODMAP journey. Anything that makes figuring out what to eat easier, something I still get wrong, or takes the guesswork out of it completely, is the dream. Fody is dedicated to producing 100% low-FODMAP products. Using them with meals you make at home is a godsend, any time of the year. It’s been especially important during this time of social distancing.
While Fody Foods has a store locator, recent grocery delivery issues makes it difficult to get these foods nearby
Not long before we were given the “safer at home” orders in Wisconsin, I went to a local grocery store to pick up some Fody products. It’s really the only store in my area that carries a wide variety, so I wanted to get everything all at once. Unfortunately, the store was overrun with people hoarding toilet paper, and a 24-hour business was forced to close before 9 p.m.
Even though I knew I was blowing things out of proportion, and my heavily privileged self should probably shut up, I was at my wits end. Everything was changing so quickly. I wasn’t allowed to get the only food I could eat in what looked like it was going to be a pandemic. I went to Facebook to bitch about the fact that hoarders were keeping me from feeling like a normal person with the only products I could buy without having to scratch cook everything.
But, if you know me, you know the complaining doesn’t last long. I just have to get it out. As soon as I identify a problem, I’ve already started googling for the solution. A lot of grocery stores and other delivery services seemed overwhelmed with orders, with fulfillment not being promised for several days (poor naive early pandemic Sammi, thinking that’s the worst it would get). I needed to find a place to get these low-FODMAP foods, so I went to the source.

My recommendation? Start with one of the bundles.
I ordered a Low-FODMAP Starter Pack and crossed my fingers for a speedy delivery. The whole process, from order to delivery, only took a couple days. Fody had no shortages and no delivery issues, so I was a happy camper. Now I have some extra pasta sauce, ketchup, salsa, marinades, seasonings, and salad dressings to last me a few extra weeks during “safer at home.” The starter pack also came with one of each protein bar. I’m planning on ordering more of those in my next shipment because they were SO GOOD.
I can’t guarantee your order will ship as quickly as mine. I’m sure it has to do with how close I was to one of their fulfillment centers. At the time of writing this post, Fody hasn’t communicated any inventory or shipping issues. You should be in good shape if you want to place an order.
I haven’t had anything I hated from Fody yet, but I would especially recommend the medium salsa, BBQ sauce, ketchup, marinara, and sesame ginger marinade. Ordering some kind of a bundle is definitely worth your money, is what I’m saying. We’re planning on using the taco sauce after we get our next shipment of food from Imperfect, so I’m really excited to dig into that, too!
Fody Foods makes for fast and easy delivery, whether you’re under quarantine or not.
Whether you’re reading this while we’re all under lock down or not, I’d highly recommend Fody for anyone trying to eat Low-FODMAP. There’s so much to read and research when you’re on a special diet. You need to know what you can eat at restaurants, if anything at all. You have to make most of your food at home. Plus, you have to make your own condiments and marinades? Make life easier on yourself and order some prepared things so that you can take a break once in a while!
If you can’t tell, I can’t recommend this company enough. Now sponsor me, Fody! 😉
